Das Boot II, the evil dead
Aug. 13th, 2010 05:07 pmToday was Cast Off day. At 3pm I was sitting in a chair with a nice man using a rotary saw on my leg. It's a weird feeling, but getting a cast off was so nice, you really don't care. Foot loose and fancy free, I got to wait for a few minutes before going into x-ray.
While I was waiting, I propped my foot up on my scooter to look at the bruises. I'm still a many-colored creature. Then I noticed that omg, there's 900 million-bazillion dead skin cells on my foot. I found a trash can and started scraping, using the extra Safeway club card I normally only use for scraping ice of the windshield in winter time. I don't know how much skin I scraped off, but it was a lot. eeeeeeew! I left the Safeway card in the trash.
Finally, the x-ray guy came and took me in. They took three shots. I went back to the waiting room. Read my book for a while. Finally the med-tech came and put me in a exam room. I lifted my foot into the sink and had a wash. Ahhhhhhh. The Dr came in and looked at my new x-rays and told me i was doing well. I got a new boot, it's black with lots of velcro. I'm allowed to take to off once a day to wash.
I'm not supposed to walk for exercise, and I'm not allowed to carry anything while walking. Not supposed to drive the stick-shift. So life still sucks, but progress to non-suck is happening.
eta: Sorry, the most important part: I don't have to have surgery. GM and I will be resuming normal life as soon as we can lift and carry all of our stuff.
