See, the whole towels vs. chicken thing doesn't crack me up the same way it apparently has those friends of mine who have read it because my FATHER is usually the one who would come home with something weird and random and say, "It's not crap, it's folk art!" And yes, there was at least one chicken, 3' high, carved in wood and garishly painted. He still has it, I think.
