GM and I went dancing last night. We don’t go as often as we’d like, because we are old and tired, and because SCA events get in the way. But last night was the last night of
Stanford dance week, and our houseguest and
hyster1a asked us to go, so we went. Several lovely performances later (I’m so sorry I didn’t get to go to dance week, the renaissance dance students did a charming little dance from Dominico, Bell Fiore (I think) and a very talented young man did a demo of early ballet that was quite beautiful in a totally masculine way) GM and I danced the last waltz together. We were about to go into a redowa when I did something wrong and came down right on GM’s foot. He’s all right, but after a night of ice, elevation, and painkillers, I went to the Stanford emergency room. I broke the 5th metatarsal on the little-toe side of my left foot, also called a
Jones fracture. The hospital staff gave me Percocet, a fiberglass cast and crutches. I get to check in with an orthopedic surgeon in a few days. I’m totally bummed. We’ll have to wait and see how the pain goes, but I may not be able to go to the West/AnTir war.
