Is that a marmalade box?

There's a renaissance still-life of a table with a bunch of banqueting stuff, and what looks like an open marmalade box in the bottom right corner.
Go here, http://www.wga.hu/frames-e.html?/html/f/flegel/index.html and scroll all the way down to Still-life with Parrot (George Flegel b1566-d1638), and there's a round-ish box that looks like it's filled with jelly.
Hmm, those red boxes behind the parrot might be trencher boxes.

in the pygmy parrot still life, the oval box has the same kind of joining as the boxes they sell as 'Amish boxes'.
The best part is, if Trader Joes sells their awesome salted caramels again this xmas season, they come in this kind of box. They're pretty deep (because they have to hold a big bunch of really delicious candy!) but they're nice round boxes.

ooo, if I have an excuse to eat caramels, I will soon be the size of a small planet. Are the caramels individually wrapped? Maybe I can leave them out as coworker bait.

yes, they're individually wrapped and in a cellophane bag. If you leave them out in a place far from your desk you might be able to resist eating them all. They're really good, luckily, they're seasonal.
