What talent do you wish you had? Right now I'd be happy to get back the one that's broken.
If I bought you a drink what would it be? Really good English hard cider.
Favorite vegetable? I have to pick ONE? Spinach.
What was the last book you read? I just finished "A Dirty Job" by Christopher Moore and am a few chapters into Lindsay Davis' "Saturnalia."
What zodiac sign are you? Sagittarius. Or Earth Dog, if we're talking about the Chinese one.
Any Tattoos and/or Piercings? One hole per earlobe is my limit.
Worst Habit? Allowing my inner slob the upper hand.
If you saw me walking down the street, would you offer me a ride? Assuming the question means would I pick you up if you were a stranger, no. We don't live in a Norman Rockwell painting. If I knew and recognized someone, I would definitely offer a ride.
What is your favorite sport? Horseback riding, back when I had two good knees and a budget to support it. To watch, ice hockey, probably.
Do you have a pessimistic or optimistic attitude? Yes. And yes.
What would you do if you were stuck in an elevator with me? We'd probably be so deep in conversation we wouldn't notice the elevator was stuck.
Worst thing to ever happen to you? I suspect it hasn't happened yet, though losing Rich last year really knocked me for a loop.
Tell me one weird fact about you. My wisdom teeth grew in sideways and never erupted. I've seen the x-rays.
Do you have any pets? Landlord says no. (Past pets have included dogs, cats and a ferret.)
What if I showed up at your house unexpectedly? There would probably be a pilgrimage to Berkeley Bowl soon after for supplies.

Reserved and quiet.

What's your favorite place to hang at? Used to be Westbrook Park with the Rusted Woodlands gang. These days, favorite haunts include Moe's Books on Telegraph in Berkeley and Japantown in San Francisco.

Do you have a pessimistic or optimistic attitude? Very optimistic; not only do I believe that everything is going to go well, I also believe that *all* things which seem like a bad thing lead to something good which would not otherwise have happened.
What would you do if you were stuck in an elevator with me? Enjoy the conversation until it started working again, or we decided to try climbing out the escape hatch (if it took too long)
Worst thing to ever happen to you? When I was three years old I had the chicken pox, we moved away from Japan (where I'd lived for as far back as I can remember) taking me away from my beloved full-time baby sitter, who spoiled me rotten, and soon thereafter we moved to Germany (where many people didn't speak either of my languages) and I got a little sister.
Tell me one weird fact about you. My appetite turns off in the early evenings and stays off till after I've slept--no matter how late I stay up, and once it does I am not interested in any food, no matter how much I love it at other times of the day

What if I showed up at your house unexpectedly? I'd welcome you with a hug, show you to the guest room to leave your stuff, give you the tour, and explain to you that anything that looks like food is available for your consumption, help yourself any time you are hungry, and please don't worry about the fact that I don't eat in the evenings, I still encourage others to do so. Then I'd ask if you were up for a stroll to the local waterfall.

If you won $10,000 today, what would you do with it? Throw some of it at my student loans, and add the rest to the savings goals for "next move" "vacation between here and next location" , and "buy a house when we get to the next location".
What's your favorite place to hang at? a good bardic circle at a decent sized SCA event (or even in a living room)

Favorite thing to do in your spare time? what spare time? But back when I had some, it got spent either reading or going for hikes (sewing is a social activity, so requires people, so that time doesn't feel "spare")

Biggest pet peeve? dirty dishes (or anything at all) left on the counters or in the sink (but only my own! Other's people's kitchens can be messy, unless they expect me to do the food-prep for them)

Do you believe in God? I feel that any god who desires to be worshipped is unworthy of worship. I also do *not* believe in the concept of a force of "evil" in the universe trying to gain power for itself.

Do you have a pessimistic or optimistic attitude?—From my .sig file: I'm not a pessimist or an optimist. I'm an engineer. The glass is twice as big as it needs to be.
What would you do if you were stuck in an elevator with me?—Most likely, we'd talk until we ran out of things to talk about, then I'd pull out some gadgetry and start surfing, playing games, and/or programming. The catch is that I have trouble thinking of things to talk about spontaneously.
Worst thing to ever happen to you?—It's hard to think of anything too terrible at this point. I mean, I like where I am in life, and it's hard to imagine anything big that wouldn't steer me away from here. Things that were bad at the time...failing out of math grad school at the University of Chicago, I suppose.
Tell me one weird fact about you.—When I was 3, I got frostbite on my right hand. I had been riding in a metal-framed backpack, and got my mitten off. Apparently I hated wearing mittens, so they were tied on; but I managed anyway, and then held on to the metal frame. My parents took me to the doctor; but this was in Tennessee, so the doctor didn't know anything about frostbite, and said I'd be fine. Today, all the fingers on my right hand are shorter than the ones on the left, and they're bent. The index finger is most affected in both ways, the pinkie the least.

What was your first impression of me?—Heh. It was at the first dance practice I came to in Crosston. Due to the usual gender imbalance, at one point GM called out, "Just pick a gender and stick with it!", to which you replied, "Ah, where's the fun in that?". I had been, mmm, speculating lightly in your direction; but that comment changed my mind. I decided, regretfully, that I just didn't want Complications. (And, yes, I realize that this sounds insanely naïve in retrospect, given that, two years after that, we were all watching you and my wife kiss in Trouble.)

If I saw you walking down the street and was confident I recognized you, and it looked like you might want a ride (as opposed to being out exercising, etc.), I'd ask if you wanted a ride. But probably the context shift would be such that I wouldn't recognize you. (I rely a lot on context!)
What is your favorite sport? That I participate in these days, skiing. That I used to do, rowing. As a spectator, the Olympics, especially the more unusual events, and the World Cup (soccer)
