I hate being sick

Has anyone out there ever made cheesecake with Splenda?

And Tuesday is the least optimal day to be sick. I couldn't sleep in because the gardeners get here at 7:30. I had to call into the staff meeting. Now I'm sequestered in the den because the fabulous Juanita is here to clean the house. I had to cancel my chiro appt, too, when I think part of the reason I'm sleeping so poorly is because my shoulder hurts. I was going to go to the pit of despair and be miserable there (why should today be different from any other day?) but GM was insistent I shouldn't go to the office with a fever.  Gah. I just want out of the house for a bit. Maybe now that the gardeners are gone I'll go check the garden for snails.

On the upside, I finally got the work-laptop to connect to the work-intranet from home.

mamapduck may have done. She's a baking fool and she uses Splenda as a sugar substitute a lot.

I've never done it, but I have done some other things with Splenda. Best results for me have been half Splenda, half sugar.

I hope you feel better soon!

I've eaten it a lot, both at Cheesecake Factory and at Juniors in Brooklyn (the best New York Cheesecake in New York). It's yummy. It comes out tasting like cheesecake. THe difference between the two is that Juniors doesn't have a crust, while Cheesecake Factory had an almond something or other crust.

I know it doens't help much.

Hope you feel better! And that you annihilate any snails.

I think Andrew's mom has done it. They've gone almost entirely to Splenda.

Hope you feel better! (I've never touched Splenda, so no help there, sorry.)

For all Splenda I'd go with a no bake version. There is a Splenda "baking mix" but it's really just half Splenda and half sugar so it's more cost effective to just go halvsies yourself. Straight Splenda does not bake well, in my experience. Screws with consistency.

Do you want some chicken soup dropped by?

I don't care for cheesecake, so no. But I've made a rockin gingerbread cake with splenda, and substituted Trader Joe's peach sauce for the applesauce it calls for. The recipe is on the splenda website. 2 thumbs up.

I have eaten a friend's splenda cheesecake, and I'd say the texture was decent, though not outstanding, and the taste was probably okay. (To me splenda has just as much aftertaste as nutrasweet, so the taste for me was off, but others seemed to really like it.) If you're interested, let me know and I'll get the recipe from my friend for you.
